Weird has a certain feel to it that this movie desperately wants to believe it knows. Weird is Jack Nicholson's Joker talking and laughing with a man he just barbecued with an electric hand buzzer. This movie mistakes the latter for the former. The movie itself has weird editing choices like Alice being inside a House of Mirrors, and then suddenly she's inside a garden maze, then at a circus tent, and then Boris Airay (who would have us believe he's the Cheshire Cat even though he resembles the Cat in name only) pulls Alice away from the tent and then turns into a balloon, and then suddenly Alice is inside the 'Drink Me' vial attached to the balloon filling up with liquid and- There's 'weird' and there's 'random'. Oh, it's weird and makes little sense, but not in the same way that Carroll's Wonderland was weird and makes little sense. Perhaps it's because the filmmakers don't understand what makes Carroll's characters so enjoyable, maybe the blame rests with the manga this movie was based on, but for whatever the reason this movie is BORING. It doesn't always get the treatment it deserves, but when the studio gets it right, it is magnificent to behold. On the other hand, Asahi Production worked on the feature-length animated film entitled вЂњHeart no Kuni no Alice: Wonderful Wonder WorldвЂќ which hit the theaters last July 2011.I sat down to watch this because I am a HUGE fan of Wonderland. Quinrose was originally working on an OVA (original video animation) of Heart no Kuni no Alice but was delayed until further notice.

To make matters worse, Heartland is on the verge of a civil war where everyone in this quite strange and deranged world finds it hard to trust anyone and goes with their instinct to kill.ДЄlice Lidell is based on the original main character of Lewis CarollвЂ™s original book вЂњAliceвЂ™s Adventures in WonderlandвЂќ. In order for her to go home, she has to meet and spend time with the strange residents of Heartland and fill up a bottle, only then can she go home. She is practical, strong, and yet quite the darkly cynical one.ДЄs opposed to the traditional story, Alice is forcefully kidnapped by a mysterious man with bunny ears into a place called вЂњHeartlandвЂќ.ДЄfter being tricked into drinking a mysterious medicine, Alice soon finds out that she is forced to play in mysterious game. Unlike Lewis CarollвЂ™s AliceвЂ™s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice in this parody is quite different. Joker no Kuni no Alice: Circus to Utotsuki Game is still an ongoing manga series in IchijinshaвЂ™s Comic Zero Sum since June 2011. Heart no Kuni no Alice ended with its chapters collected and published in six volumes on October 2010.ДЄ spin-off manga series was released on the following year entitled вЂњJoker no Kuni no Alice: Circus to Utotsuki GameвЂќ which was illustrated by Mamenosuke Fujimaru. Heart no Kuni no Alice was serialized in Mag GardenвЂ™s Monthly Comic Avarus since October 2007.
